Isn’t it great that we don’t need our brains anymore when we drive? (Map? What’s that?) I only wish that we could get a GPS that told us what direction to go, which way to turn, and what decisions to make in our daily lives.
God offers that service (for free!). Proverbs 3:5-6 tell us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”
When we activate a GPS (Global Positioning System), it is only beneficial if we do 3 things. These same 3 things help us with God’s directions: Connect, listen, and follow. In order to “activate” God’s blessings, we must connect in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and seek Him. Do we want Him and His ways?
Secondly, we have to listen to what the device tells us, or read the directions. The same with God. Am I open to hearing what He wants for me as he speaks to me through the Bible?
Thirdly, it does no good to connect and hear if we do not actually follow the directions. Am I doing what I know he wants me to do right now?
He promises to direct our paths when we seek Him and trust Him, and do not rely solely on our limited perspective. Like a GPS satellite, God sees the whole picture. And although the ride may seem rough at times, He is the only reliable One Who will get us safely to our final destination. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is where we end up and Who we are with.
