So bummed out today by the cold weather and dark days looming. Why can’t God just let us have summer all the time? I could go for that (including year round vacation)!
We are told that God “changes the times and the seasons” (Daniel 2:21). And I’m sure there are plenty of scientific explanations for why this happens and perhaps even why it may be necessary.
In a similar way, life itself is a series of seasons. We each pass through four seasons of life, from birth (spring) to old age (winter). And as with the weather, each season of life has something difficult to help us grow, and something good to cherish. And if we stop long enough to notice, each season is a constant reminder of life and death.
If it all ended there we would certainly have good reason to be depressed. But what if there was a FIFTH SEASON? A season only filled with life and goodness that never ended?
Well, there is! The same God Who made the earth and keeps the seasons in motion HAS prepared a place for us that will only be filled with His life and goodness. Just the way He intended us to live originally. But when we rebelliously turned our backs on Him, we severed ourselves from our perfect relationship with Him and His life, resulting in inevitable death. Only by accepting the blood sacrifice of His Son Jesus in faith, a conscious choice, are we able to receive life and reconnect again to the loving holy God who wanted us in the first place.
Not sure if there will be seasons (as we know them) in our Heavenly home, but we can rest assured that this FIFTH SEASON will be far beyond anything we can even imagine right now. Permanent and glorious! Summer vacation will pale in comparison! And back-to-school fall, or winter ice storms will never haunt us again. Now I can go for that! I hope you can too. 🙂
