I love Amazon! And I also adore the lady who delivers to us! One day I asked her if she had any prayer requests. After giving it some thought, she replied, “Peace.”
What a great request! Pretty sure we all want peace. But how many of us have it, and know how to find it?
Do you want Someone to calm you when everything feels like it’s spinning out of control?
Do you want Someone to comfort you when you’re writhing in pain and grief?
Do you want Someone to soothe you when you wake anxiously in the night?
Do you want Someone to reassure you that everything is going to be all right?
Do you want Someone to give you rest in your weariness?
Since we were created for a personal relationship with the glorious God of the universe, it’s innate to long for peace. But because of our own sin, tragically that relationship is severed – separating us forever from the only One Who can give us deep lasting peace.
This broken world can’t even come close to satisfying our hearts with genuine permanent peace. Neither can we find its source inside ourselves, though we may experience some moments of tranquility along the way.
The reason peace is so elusive is that it can only come from a right relationship with God, made possible only through His Son Jesus. HE IS our peace!
The One who created our hearts is the only One who can satisfy them.
I love how He’s called the Prince of Peace, and Jehovah Shalom (The LORD is Peace). We’re promised that when we fill our minds with Him, trust Him in the dark, and keep our hearts open to communing with Him, we will have peace. Supernatural peace, that far surpasses human understanding. Faith is the golden key. 🙂
And I can tell you from many years of needing His peace, that He truly does calm, comfort, soothe, reassure, and give rest!
The only way to have the peace of God is to have peace WITH God. And the good news is that it’s possible!
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah. (Romans 5:1)
There is no greater PEACE. I hope you have it. 🙂
