I love when you start the day with grand plans and the Lord surprises you with the unexpected! Wanting to brighten someone’s day with a beautiful poinsettia, my day began with asking God to show me who needed it.
Immediately I was excited to take it to the nearby care facility and ask them who could use a special visit. Praying for the Lord’s leading and blessing, and especially for the individual I’d soon meet. I just wanted to share His love.
Plot Twist #1:
The staff were so appreciative! They said most of the residents do not get visitors. However they wanted the poinsettia to be placed in the big room so everyone could enjoy it. Okay…I get that.
With no poinsettia to give, I still wanted to know who could use a little love and cheer. Lighting up, the nurse led me down the hall and introduced me to Rebecca, a very special lady on hospice, and also blind. (She could never have seen the poinsettia!) I was so excited to be able to share the love of Jesus with her, and the hope and peace He offers.
Plot Twist #2:
I held Rebecca’s hand as we chatted about Christmas. In a matter of minutes, we discovered we were both believers! So much joy. An instant bond.
Plot Twist #3:
My original plan to stay a few minutes blossomed into a beautiful visit between two people sharing love and joy and thankfulness, in spite of the pain and hardships of this life. Then she quietly said to me, “My name isn’t Rebecca. It’s Pam.”
I couldn’t stop laughing, and I asked her if we needed to start all over. She was all smiles!
Plot Twist #4:
Our time together was so sweet. Before I left I prayed with her, and gave her a long warm hug.
Then she said to me, “I am so lonely, and this morning I prayed that the Lord would send someone to visit with me.”
WOW. ❤️
The biggest plot twist was that I went to be a blessing, and I got one instead.
