A question from a Hope for the Wobbly interview with Welby O’Brien:
What shocking news did you receive right before Hope for the Wobbly was published?
I was blindsided by a totally unexpected cancer diagnosis. Didn’t see that coming! Grappling to get my bearings, I took another look at the book. I needed hope!
The familiar messages suddenly took on an even more profound meaning. I was feeling VERY wobbly! And though the future was shrouded in darkness and pain, I felt comforted and encouraged.
The Lord promised to walk with me through the valley, and that kept me going.
I immediately began to get my affairs in order (including cleaning out a closet!), and was actually in surgery the same day Hope for the Wobbly was being published in December.
It’s been a very long, traumatic process, but the good news is that they were able to get it all, and I am finished with treatment. And doing well! Truly grateful!
God is good, in our trials and in our triumphs.
This most recent brush with death has made me even more passionate about getting the good news of salvation and eternal hope in Jesus to everyone! Hope for the Wobbly has been such a joy to share! My surgeon was the first to get a book, and I’ve been able to give books to many patients and medical staff all along my cancer journey.
No matter what any of us has been through or is going through, ultimately the most important thing is for all of us to believe and receive Jesus as our Savior. He is our only–and forever–hope! 💜
