Funny how we can be so determined to get that one thing we KNOW we need and MUST have! And we do well to ask God for it. But sometimes He has other plans for us, which turn out far better than we ever imagined!
Right before Hope for the Wobbly went to press I was racing the clock along with the editor and designer to wrap things up that day. It had already been a really rough morning, and I was totally depleted after a difficult medical procedure.
Suddenly we found out all our plans for images would NOT work! And we had to start over! I had two hours to find images to replace those I had spent ten months perfecting.
Depleted? Yes. Defeated? No!
As I’m learning, when I feel wobbly, I need to lean harder on Him. I fervently pleaded with the Lord to show me the images we needed. It was so amazing how it all came together so quickly.
Except for one.
Where was the image I had of a suspension bridge for the chapter “Faith Boosters?” That was all I needed to successfully wrap things up.
I could not find it! Frantic, I started my search all over on various image sites, but there was no good image of a suspension bridge that seemed right.
I was so exhausted, in tears, and shaky.
Lord, can You hear me?
Then I remembered the promise in Psalm 73:24: “You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.”
I paused. And looked out the window at the passing storm. Praying once again, I cried, “Lord, PLEASE guide me. What do You want? SHOW me what we need.”
And there it was. Right in front of me! A rainbow!
Tears of joy and gratitude streamed down my cheeks!
My wobbly moment had transformed into a rainbow moment.
Within minutes I found the perfect rainbow image to symbolize our faith in His promises. I had forgotten that the rainbow is God’s reminder to us that He keeps His promises. He’s continually reminding us of His faithfulness—from ancient times, all the way into eternity, where a dazzling rainbow encircles His heavenly throne.
Our faith is based on His faithfulness. God is good. And He keeps his promises.
And it’s our faith IN HIS PROMISES that keeps us going.
Whenever I start to wobble, I want to remember this spectacular rainbow moment, so clearly from God.
The last chapter in Hope for the Wobbly, “Timeless Promises,” is brimming with amazing promises from the Lord that we can claim any time.
The more we can know and trust His promises from Scripture, the more rainbow moments we’ll have.
He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23) 🌈
